Summer 2024 Newsletter

We very much look forward  to the enjoyment of another summer at the Lake.  Vintage Vermillion has been receiving guests for 75 years and this will be our own 22nd Summer on Black Bay.  We  continue to improve our 5 cabins and grounds while maintaining the unspoiled character of this unique and serene place. Our only goal is  to make your stay at the Resort  ever more comfortable and special. 

The furnishings and decor are things that we have accumulated carefully over the years. This is not second hand stuff. It is top quality cabin design furnishing and a number of unique vintage pieces. The dining table and most chairs are Old Hickory. We do not exaggerate when we say that you will be delighed with the serenity of the property and the character of the cabins.

 We hope you may decide to choose this next summer  to visit and celebrate some special occasion or anniversary of your own or just to enjoy the serenity of our forested acreage on Lake Vermilion with  its unexcelled fishing and scenery.

You will find new exterior doors and screen doors on all of the cabins. We have new,  high quality, slatted shades on all windows, including in the Lodge.  Great for privacy. The Gazebo is out of commission but we hope to have it restored by mid-summer.

Birch cabin, one of the favorites of guests, has a new bunk bed with Elfa mattresses in one BR and a new window in the back wall to promote cross ventilation. There is a new window in the back of the second bedroom in Aspen, too. Turn on the fan and you won’t need the air conditioner, although it is there if you want it. The lower bunk in Birch is a double bed and so, now Birch cabin easily accommodates 5 persons. Perfect for families or two couples. 

Main Cabin now has two bunk beds and a raised  ceiling in the back bedroom, again with two more new Leesa mattresses.. This  spacious cabin (over 1,000 SF) now easily accommodates up to 8 persons. If you want to use one or both of the deluxe, extra-wide, fold up, roll-away beds, you can add one or two more persons in the large living room and then fold up the beds during the day.

After several requests, the  comfortable double sofa bed is back in Larch and the top bunk has a new mattress. We removed one of the twin beds in the back bedroom of Larch and replaced it with a queen bed. With one person on the sofa bed in the living area, Larch now easily accommodates up to 6 guests.  The cabins are cozy and the raised ceilings add volume. Plus, you have access to the lakeside Lodge with ample space for games or eating on the porch or deck.

The popular cedar deck right next to the beach has been restored and provides chairs/lounges for sunning or watching children who are enjoying the sand beach. We expanded the larger upper deck (see the photos below) for games, meals, reading or just  a relaxing snooze,  with several new tables and additional, comfortable lounge chairs. Of course, the fire pit remains a favorite gathering spot and as always there will be an unlimited supply of complimentary  split logs for your enjoyment. 

Our wonderful caretakers from 2023 will return this year. Aleks and Tatiana move up from Florida to Vintage Vermilion for the summer. They take pride in their work and guests reported that the place had never looked so good. Tatiana is immaculate when it comes to her cleaning. Aleks is handy and both are anxious to please. Aleks will help you launch your boat and park your trailer. We are pleased to have them living right on site. They came as guests two summers ago and now returned to manage our place. Please ask Aleks if there is anything that you need. The humming birds will be back again this year. Tatiana loves gardening and so, we expect that all will enjoy even more flowers this year.
