The Retreat
In 2020, Vintage Vermilion added to its amenity offerings by restoring a longstanding empty building on the bluff to the east of Larch Cabin. We call this special place The Retreat.
This unique structure sits on stilts half way up the bluff. It occupies a secluded spot, right in the midst of the forest. It is accessed via a boardwalk that crosses large boulders as it ascends the incline. At the top of the stairs, you will find a cozy, pine-paneled room. The views to the lake over the tree tops indeed are special. The Retreat is a common facility available for use only by guests who are staying in one of the cabins.
There are two ceiling fans and ample natural light. There is a comfortable daybed for a nap and a desk overlooking the lake where you may write letters, cards or even a book or poem, if the spirit so moves you.
The rest of the furnishings of The Retreat include several comfy, over-sized rocking chairs, some easy chairs, a puzzle table and a card/game table with four chairs. There is a well stocked bookcase and a cabinet full of puzzles and board games. (Try Mexican Train, that is one of our favorites.) There is a small refrigerator stocked with bottled water.
The Retreat complements our Lodge which is a larger building at the opposite end of the Resort. At the Lodge, you will find a big-screen TV, refrigerator and microwave, multiple game tables, and a lakeside screen porch. The Lodge is shared among all the guests in our 5 cabins.
The Retreat is a private facility and available by reservation only. It will be provided to any group (without additional charge) during their reservation of three or more cabins or for a rental of Main Cabin for at least a week. Otherwise, if you are staying in a cabin at Vintage Vermilion, and no other guest is occupying three cabins, you may reserve the Retreat for your exclusive use at an additional cost of $ 100 per day (or $425/week) plus applicable taxes. First come, first served. Rental periods begin at Noon and end at 11:00 am. Overnight stays, smoking and food are not permitted in the Retreat.
Our rental cabins are compact and cozy. Adding the Retreat to your stay provides a hideaway or additional gathering spot for guests as well as more space and privacy within your party. Of course, you will still always enjoy shared access with other guests to the Lodge.
