It is 1062 square feet and has two bedrooms, one with twin beds, one with two sets of bunk beds ( twin over twin), a ¾ bath, over-sized kitchen with stainless appliances and a dishwasher, washer and dryer and a large living/dining area with TV. Main was recently equipped with two air conditioning units. A lakeside deck adds the perfect finishing touch.

  • The Main Cabin is furnished with a combination of Old Hickory furnishings and cabin decor, and is fully carpeted. You will enjoy the honey colored pine paneling and herring bone ceiling which reflect the cabin’s age and character. The large, Old Hickory dining table with 2 leaves, seats up to 10. There are two more tables on the lakeside deck.

  • One of the outdoor tables has an umbrella and there is an over-sized Weber gas grill on the rear deck of this cabin.

  • The Main Cabin is the perfect gathering place for family reunions or other group events involving multiple cabin rentals.

Cabin Amenities

  • The cabins are decorated with special cabin furnishings and unique cabin decorations. The cabins have themes in their decor: Aspen is General Wildlife, Birch is Birch/Native American, Cedar is Bears and Larch is Moose. These cabins are almost 75 years old but carefully renovated and updated including new double hung windows and screens. They are maintained immaculately clean. You will find the interiors special and comfortable. You are going to be visiting a charming and unique place. There is nothing quite like the character of our cabins near the water on our 85 acres of wooded serenity. Our cabins sit in the middle of our property with at least 20 acres of undeveloped woodlands on each side. Many old and young pines are scattered among the birch and aspen.

  • Black Bay is renowned for its fishing. Crappies, many over 12 inches, are in abundance at the right times of the year. The bass love our unspoiled shoreline where they spawn. Black Bay is a shallow bay and it is a favorite spot on Opening Day of the fishing season.. You will catch pan fish off the dock. You can then go to the edges of the weeds on the Partridge River which flows out of Black Bay. After that, you have all of Vermilion to explore. We have the names of some super fishing guides. They book up fast, and so reserve in advance.

  • Each cabin has its own Weber charcoal grill. Bring your own charcoal and starter. Main cabin has a deluxe over-sized propane grill. Each cabin has a outside picnic table.

  • All Vintage Vermilion cabins have a kitchen area with ample utensils, a range, microwave, full size refrigerator, coffee maker and table settings, etc.

  • Each cabin has high speed Starlink wifi that works great outdoors, too!

  • There is a washer-dryer set for guests in the auxiliary building

  • We have a large lakeside deck with tables and comfortable seating which can accommodate 15 comfortably. See the photos in the Summer 2023 newsletter. It adjoins a small deck overlooking our swimming area.

  • Guests have access to the Lodge, which is a spacious recreational building with sofas, easy chairs, 65" HD TV, microwave, refrigerator, 2 card/game tables and 200 square foot covered lakeside screen porch. The resort also has a sauna, a fully-equipped fish cleaning house and a central fire ring with half-log seating (with plenty of wood).

  • Cabin rentals also include use of fishing boat with oars (1 available), 2-person canoe (1 available), kayaks (3 available), small and large pedal boats (all first come - first served). Fishing boats with motor (10 hp to 150hp) , several with with trolling motor and fish finder as well as pontoon boat rentals available.

  • The Resort has maintained walking trails throughout the 85 acre setting. There is a circle path of about a mile total that follows the lakeshore, then ascends via 65 steps up to the top of the bluff, then back along the bluff with magnificent views of the Bay until you return to the shoreline via the old driveway. There also is our 2 mile long driveway through the forest for longer hikes or jogging. There is a three night minimum stay for all cabins.

  • Cedar and Larch cabins also have their own 3/4 bath with shower. Aspen and Birch each have an interior half bath as well as private access to a completely renovated, secure and private ¾ bath with shower and its own entrance in an adjacent building, just a few steps away.

  • If Aspen or Birch is not rented, a secure and private ¾ bath with shower may be reserved for the exclusive use of the guests in any other cabin, for an additional fee.

  • Cedar, Aspen, Birch and Larch cabins have been completely renovated with raised ceilings and electric heat. Each cabin has 3 ceiling fans, including in each bedroom.

  • Cedar and Larch boast cathedral windows with gorgeous views. The entire front of the Main Cabin is windows facing the lake. All windows are only a few years old, with easy open and good screens. All have deluxe slatted, push-up shades for privacy.

  • Larch Cabin is about 35 feet back from the water; Cedar Cabin is about 25 feet back; Aspen and Birch Cabins are 65-75 feet back. Main Cabin is 53 feet back.
